    Detroit River walleyes

Here is a question that I can only answer with "The Detroit River". Where is the easiest spot to limit out on walleyes? IMO, this has to be the answer. In the spring after the ice flows have stopped all boat traffic, the walleye season starts with a bang. The walleye stack up all over that river. The mouth of Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair are deadly in the spring. Try jigging 1/2oz.-1oz. chartreuse jigs with a brown rubber worm and try to argue with my original question. Remember the stinger hooks, and try to stay VERTICAL. That's the key to your limit.

I agree 100%.  While I don't do a ton of Walleye fishing a buddle and I head out in the early spring to slam the walleyes in the Detroit River.  While some might not like the looks of the chartreuse jig head and brown rubber worm it is hard to argue with the success that fishermen are having with it.

I know that the Detroit River is an great spot to fish for Walleyes, but what about lake Erie?  I went trolling with a crawler harness in about 27' of water and we caught a lot of fish, but a lot of them were under 15'' so we had to let them go.  The biggest was about 5lbs and one guy lost about an 8lb fish.  This was also mid summer on a hot day, so maybe if you fished earlier in the season I am sure you could pull out a decent limit.

Also the Maumee River is an outstanding place to Walleye fish when they are spawing in spring.  If anyone goes down there everybody uses floating jig heads with a 3'' curly tail grub.  Use the same style as you would fishing a spawn bag for steelhead, cast upstream and let the sinker "tick" bottom all the way down.

is there anywhere on the Detroit River to shore fish from and is it worth it to try from shore?  Also do Walleye eat less when they go in to the rivers to spawn like salmon and steelhead?
