We hunted hard for the first 3 days of our season and we really didn't see that many birds compared to years past. On Monday we heard a few birds gobble in there roost. A lot less then in years past. My dad called in a hen in the morning at about 8:30. At 2:00 we heard a lone gobble so my dad called for a moment and the we saw a large tom with three hens coming thru the woods. Unfortunetly just then the care takers on the next property started cutting down a tree with a chain saw about 200 yards away. The turkeys took off shortly after that. On Tuesday we moved to a differnet farm about 20 miles away. We only heard 3 gobbles all morning. We didn't see a single bird from the blind all morning. We did spook a tom a 2 hens off when we were walking into our blind after lunch. They were about 300 yards away so there was no real chance at him. We went back to the farm that we had hunted on Monday. Again there was little gobbling until about 9:00 when we heard a lone gobble about 300 yards out. My Dad started calling and he called him in after about an hour. I will let him tell the story he will get mad if I steal his thunder. His pic is posted in the bird hunting pic section. His bird had a 10 and 3/8ths beard and weighed around 23 pounds.
