We applied and got the news today we did not get drawn   Oh well looks like it to Maine for bear this year.

Never tried to apply for a WY Elk tag.  What does it cost?  I was supposed to go whitetail hunting in Maine a year ago but we decided to northern Ontario where we got screwed by our guide (long story).  When we were looking for guides in Maine we ran across a lot of guys that really knew there stuff about the beer hunting out there.  Sounds like it would be a fun hunt.

It's like $550 to apply, if you don't get drawn you get $500 back and they keep $50, but assign you a perference point which increases your chances in the next year.  Since we didn't get drawn, it looks like a bear hunt in Maine this year.  We are still looking at other states (CO,NM,AZ) for elk, but thier drawings are kind of late in the year and only give you a few months to finish planning your trip. You should look at huntng whitetails in OH, much bigger then MI deer, close trip, cheap trip.
